The Kelly Kettle has been part of my family life for as long as I can remember. My late father was a huge fan and it was he who sparked the passion in all of us. It seemed magic that the kettle would start anywhere, in a field, on a windswept beach (sometimes burning dried seaweed) then provide us with a very welcome boiling hot cup of tea - apparently in moments! The whole process was a source of deep fascination to us as children, the ritual of finding a few dry twigs, the first match followed by a roaring volcano (which smelt so sweet) and finally the thrilling boiling steamy water. As a family we now have regular Kelly Kettle parties, with 4 or more kettles all on the go at once providing hot drinks then vegetarian sausages and beans. Kettle parties are held in woods, on beaches, in gardens, anywhere we can get the family to gather. A kelly kettle is given as a gift almost as a rite of passage as our children grow up. My wife and I keep the kettle with us when gardening so we can stop for a fresh cuppa when we need refreshment. I am now teaching my latest son Sam (aged 2) the hidden arts of kelly kettling. Thank you Kelly Kettle for providing us with so much pleasure over the years!
