Great product, needs a couple of refinements to make it truly excellent.

I have the base Camp Gen 2 (So the Green Whistle Stopper), it is great on the beach, out in the woods, in the hills and mountains, it is great for my little family to have hot drinks (hot soup, Hot chocolate, even instant noodles etc).
One little thing is that i cannot fill the kettle with water and hike with it full (you can but it will leak - the Green whistle is not a stopper).
I reckon it should come with the RED Stopper, and the GREEN whistle, and then when I come to use it I swap them over. For the record I bought an Orange Stopper and run it on my chain next to the Green Whistle so I've done it anyway.

What I had expected

I have seen these used a number of times, and decided to buy one for when I’m out gardening all day so I don’t have to walk inside all dirty etc.
Love mine, I went middle of the road with “scout” and I’m very pleased with it.
Re the stopper: not sure why call it a whistle if it can’t be left in to whistle! I let mine whistle and as soon as it whistles I take it off the fire and open the stopper - so far touch wood never had a problem!

Short Reply from Kelly Kettle: Thanks Ruddy. The Stopper (Orange) is very different to the Whistle (Green). The green Whistle can be left in and sounds off when the water is boiled. The orange Stopper must NEVER be left in when boiling the Kettle. All Kettles now come with a Whistle - which replaced the orange stopper. I hope this helps. :-)

Regarding the comment about people putting the bung in and forgetting to take it out before boiling the kettle, you can't fix stupid. If you don't have any common sense, there are a lot more ways your are going to hurt or kill yourself out in the great outdoors. Review by Darwin (Posted on 30/12/2014)
A much better stopper!

I purchased this a while ago now to upgrade my original cork bung. this is much better, a much stronger chain a better fit for carrying water, and the orange, which although does kind of ruin the 'rustic' look of the kettle, is so much easier to find when it is dropped (removal aided by a great little clip). being silicon, it is much easier to clean so you don't have that nagging feeling that it may have been dropped in cow dung and you might catch something (over cautious I know, but I do have mild OCD).

I understand what the previous reviewer is saying about the bung being a risk due to its tighter seal, but then, anything can be dangerous if it is not used properly. (I hold my hands up here, I have left it in once after a sleepless night, but realised quickly). if you think it is a problem take the bung off whilst you are using the kettle to prevent that lapse of concentration turning in to a trip to A&E.

Stopper dangers
Rate this product?
Folks,

These stopper should really have some sort of one way pressure release value safety feature built into them. I have had to remove my stopper as there have been to many near misses with people "temporarily" placing in the stopper while loading fuel and forgetting to remove it. 3rd degree burns are not a good way to end a camping trip.

Don't get me wrong I love this product! but this a very serious design/safety issue that could be simple resolved with a small change.

KK REPLY: Noted with thanks Vincent. We have actually replaced the orange stoppers with a whistle (green) which sounds off when the kettle boils. The whistle vents the steam so no pressure builds up behind the whistle making the Kettle very safe to use by people of all ages.
