Weight: 1.07kg | Volume: 11.35 ltrs | Dimensions: 45.72cm x 22.86cm x 15.24cm
Made from High Density Polyethlene (HDPE) plastic that blocks UV light. It may be used continuously in extremely hot conditions up to approximately 230F / 110 C
The plastic will become brittle at approximately -103F / -75C
The AquaBrick is an excellent option for long-term emergency water storage. Water can be safely stored in an AquaBrick container for 12 months if using standard tap water without any additives.
Over time, untreated water will taste flat or stale, but it remains safe to consume. To achieve true long-term storage of up to 5 years without rotation, you must treat the water with a commercial water preserver concentrate.
Cleaning and Sanitizing the Containers
The best way to clean and prepare your AquaBrick containers is a two-step process of washing and sanitizing:
1. The Initial Wash
Wash: Fill the brick with warm water and a small amount of liquid dish soap.
Scrub: Use a clean bottle brush to scrub around the large 75mm opening and internal corners. Pay special attention to the lid threads and the internal rubber sealing gasket, which can develop a slimy film over time.
Rinse: Flush the container repeatedly with clean water until absolutely no soap bubbles remain.
2. The Sanitizing Rinse
Mix: Create a sanitising solution by adding 1 teaspoon of unscented, standard household liquid bleach to 1 litre of clean water.
Coat: Pour the solution into the AquaBrick, securely tighten the cap, and vigorously shake and slosh the liquid to ensure it contacts every interior surface and the inside of the cap.
Wait: Let the mixture sit inside the container for at least 30 seconds.
Drain & Dry: Pour the solution out. If you are storing the bricks empty for future use, let them air-dry completely for 24 hours before capping. If you are filling them immediately, give them a final flush with treated or clean tap water.
Long-Term Storage Pro-Tips
Avoid Concrete Contact: Never place your filled plastic containers directly onto a bare concrete floor. Concrete leaches chemical compounds and moisture over time, which can compromise the plastic and affect the taste. Barrier materials like plywood, cardboard, or 2x4 wooden slats must be placed underneath the bricks.
Filtration Bypass: If you store untreated water past the 12-month mark and do not want to rotate it, you can bypass the stale taste by running the water through the integrated Sagan Life AquaBrick Water Purification System at the time of use to remove any organic matter or off-tastes.
